Aloha and Welcome

If you're here then you must have clicked on the wrong link some where back there.... If you are here on your own volition then you must be interested in the progress of our Danish/Vietnamese house. Its been a long, dusty road filled with saw dust, wood glue and BUCKETS of dry wall mud. But with each pass of the sand paper our house is looking like what we dreamed it to be.

Finally more painting

We had such grand plans for working on the house this weekend, in my own mind I was thinking we could paint the kitchen and dining room. But.... with the Thanksgiving holiday we didn't get very far.  Danish Man sanded quite a bit more, cleaned up dry wall dust and we got to paint the dining room.  It actually looks quite lovely with the sunlight streaming on through.  I have to say masking the ceiling and around corners was not as bad as I usually see it.
Sorry it seems my first photo does not want to stay up right in the correct viewing angle.  But it just basically shows the beginning of our paint job and a better contrast at the color difference between the purple blue and the white that the wall was.

We can't wait for the floors and the base boards to be installed so we can put our dining room set in there.  Now we need to paint the kitchen and living room!  Hopefully this weekend.

Paint has been picked!

So on Sunday we decided that it would be best that we get out and pick our paint colors.  I honestly am not as picky as I thought I be.  Really it didn't matter as much to me as i thought it would.  We went with blues and blue/greens.  Definitely a tropical feel to the colors.  We went with Liberty Blue for the dining room and Embellished blue for the kitchen.  While the living room gets white and embellished blue.  Here's an idea of what the colors are like, but don' let that fool you.  I am sure its quite different from what it will really look like on the wall.

I really can't wait to paint and see how the colors will turn out.  I think its time to recruit some friends and family to paint.

Some more pre-remodel Pics

This one is shot from the living room looking into the kitchen, once I got the ok I took a sledge hammer to that wall and knocked the crap out to open the kitchen up!
Our new gas stove is in the same area but not as crazy close to the sink.  My mother in law was on hand the day we got our keys to the house.  It was a mess....
The whole kitchen was a shambles and we knew it would have to be redone.  It was tiny and wasn't going to suit our needs.  Danish Man and I are a social couple and we love to cook and bake and entertain our friends and family.  Not to mention the 70s was so over and needed to give the kitchen a more modern look.  If you look at the other blog you'll see pics of what the empty space looked like before we started putting in new cabinets.  Whoo hoo!  This weekend we're probably going to go and look at paint.  For the the kitchen, dining room and *sigh* living room.

Last night while waiting for the pizza dough to rise we ended up putting handles on all our drawers and cabinets.  Yay no more nail breaking prying!  Getting closer and closer.

Post Complete

Here are some pictures of what the kitchen looked like before the face frames went up. Kind of blank eh. So much progress on the kitchen since before the wedding.

The KITCHEN

Starting off on a good foot let me show you some of what the kitchen now looks like.  Still more work to be done but thank you baby jeebus that we now have a working stove, dish washer, fridge and microwave/hood.  I think I was going to have a knock down drag out fight with our electric griddle.  Danish Man (the hubby) did a great job on the blue glass tile back splash.  He installed it all by himself.  Quite the pat on the back.  The cabinets were installed by him as well.  He's definitely a keeper.  A Danish version of Bob the Builder.  Some of the cabinets and drawers now have handles on them so I don't break finger nails trying to pry open the drawers.  So much more storage room now and in reality I'm can't wait to have a fully clean, fully stocked kitchen!!!!!  I freaking live in my kitchen baking.  Which I did with so much pumpkin goodness.  That's another post for another time.  What's left to do now is for the window sill to be installed and the walls to be painted.  But that doesn't happen till all the walls in the living room and dining room are dry walled and sanded.  The house looks like a pound of cocaine exploded.  Danish Man has vacuumed up most of it but there is still a fine layer of dust that needs to be cleaned up.  I think we maybe picking out paint colors this weekend.
I long for the day when I can walk BARE footed on my own house.  Ahhh dreams.....  Can you see the sink on the above picture, its absolutely gorgeous and awesome.  The sink and the fridge are my favorite appliances for the house.  Don't get me wrong the coffee maker and stand mixer are my favs as well.  But those are in another category.   Danish man and I are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  Yay!

Continue on....

Let state that when I get home from work, aside from the casual surfing of the net on my iPad or iPhone that I am rarely on the internet.  I DO a lot of my online usage when I'm on my break at work.  Now previously I had a blog over on Tumblr, but my work has decided that they wanted to block the Tumblr site thus barring me from blogging on my lunch break.  You maybe asking why I don't just do it when I get home, well between Maus our dog, a house that is still under construction, a long day at work and my weekly visits to Bar Method class to stay active I'm in no mood to blog at home.  So here we are then a new blogger site.  To catch you up on the previous posts here is the other site: www.danishviethouse.tumblr.com.  From here I'll try my best to keep everyone updated with the events of the house.
